We got a booster fan for DS's room, and it has made a huge difference. His room was the coldest in the house (farthest from the furnace, lots of exterior wall) and now it's toasty. It just sits on the vent and cuts on when it senses heat or when it gets cold in there. It pulls air properly from the ducts into the room. Totally cheaper than a heater, as it's using the heat we've already paid for.

Interesting! I'm going to show this to DH. Our room is the coldest in the house and we have to keep our door closed so the dogs don't get the sheets covered in fur and dirt.

Thank you so much for posting this! My son's room is freezing for the same reasons you talked about and there is no way we can put a heater in there because he's 3 and would be messing with it. I had no idea something like this existed!

Interesting, I've never heard of these before. The girls' bedroom is always freezing in the winter due to it's location in the house and the fact that it has a bunch of large windows. I'll have to show this to DH tonight. We currently have a space heater in there but I've never been really comfortable with that.
Brilliant. Thanks for posting - DD's room is over the garage, farthest from anything and faces south, so it roasts in the summer and freezes in the winter. If this helps at ALL it's worth it!

Thanks for this! The baby's room is the coldest in winter, but also coolest in summer, w hich is why I picked it. So this might be useful after baby arrives.
I've never seen something like that before--cool. DD1s room is super toasty but the younger girls room (which is right next to it) is usually cool. We have ancient wall vents though so it wouldn't work for them. I use a space heater in the playroom & it makes me a bit nervous but they seem to be designed better than when I was a kid.
