We did a photo session this morning. DS was an absolute nightmare. From the first moment until the last shot, everything was a battle. If we get one decent pic of the four of us it will be a miracle. And we didn't get any at all of DS and DD together, which is what I was really hoping we'd get.
I am sorry. This just happened to us in October. DS was a crabby nightmare. It was a $250 mini session and we hate every photo. I feel that newborn through 12 months was easy for photo shoots. Then it's a crapshoot for a few years.
I'm sorry. Is the photographer willing to work with you and try again for no additional fee? I think it is worth asking.
I think this is a good idea. Also, was it in a studio or outside? Granted DS is only a year but for his 12 month photos we generally just went someplace that he could play. Most of the shots were just him acting normally doing what he wanted to do and they are really great. Maybe you could do a situation like that? Just go to the park or something?

We were outside at a resort. DS just wanted to run all over. She tried to do some shots of him playing, but he didn't really cooperate with that either. She did say that if she goes through the pictures and doesn't really get much, we can try to get some in her studio. I'm still bummed, though.

I swear, photoshoots with young kids are ridiculously stressful.
I wouldn't worry too much though. When we had DD2's one year photos/family photos done, the kids were practically bouncing off the walls. I didn't think we'd end up with a single decent shot. To my surprise, our photographer did an amazing job and I loved just about every picture from the shoot. You never know!

I'm sorry. Our newborn session was like that, to the point that we stopped halfway through and rescheduled it. DD just would not stop crying. Of course we had taken the pictures of the three of us on the first day, and the photographer said that she had good ones from that part, so we didn't retake them the next time...and I hate every picture of the three of us.
I feel like the minute I get stressed out my kids sense it and get stressed to and the photo shoot goes to shitzville. Now, I bring lollipops --- bright colored, large lollipops... they usually look really cute in the photo shoot. I can usually get a few photos before I give the lollipop b/c once you give it you cannot take it away or tears will flow! Just an idea!

Ugh. The photographer just posted a two picture preview of our session. The one of the four of us is baaaad. The one of DD is only okay.
I assume that she picked some of the better ones to post, so I'm not optimistic about the rest of them. She said it would be about two weeks before the whole album will be available on her website.

There's still hope. I've found my photographer's opinion about the best photos varies from mine. Often I like the individual shots she previews but prefer different family shots.
