I'm not sure why I love it. My mom's was a can of green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and french onions on top. I think it was the salt content for me. I love salty foods.
It makes H want to dry heave, so I haven't had it in a long time.
I love green bean casserole-it's the french fried onions on top that MAKE the dish...when they meld in with the cream of crap and green beans (I use frozen, NOT canned) it's just sooo good.
Now that I've had surgery though and am committed to a healthy eating plan (low calorie, moderate good fat, lower carb) I may have to modify the recipe...
Green beans are fine...they make low fat cream of crap...it's really the onions that will get you (2 tbsp. is 45 calories-we usually use a whole can (and sometimes a can and a half).
Sigh...I'm going to fill up on turkey, some veggies and allow myself one stuffing muffin. If I am going to have a treat it's going to be a motherfucking stuffing muffin!

I love it but I only use just a little bit of cream of mushroom because too much of that makes me wanna yak.... but I make up for it by using a shitton of fried onions yum~
I think for me it is just the memories of Thanksgiving from my childhood. I think if I tried it for the first time as an adult I wouldn't love it as much as I do
I can take it or leave it but I made it that way five years ago the first Thanksgiving H and I were married and MIL was smitten. Now it has to be at either Thanksgiving or Christmas.
