If so what do they do for you? I feel like my life is spinning out of control and I'd really like someone to help keep my house picked up/organized and maybe do the grocery shopping for me. Is it possible to find someone that would be willing to do that a couple hours a week?
I think some nannies do that, but mine has 2 15/16 month olds and a 4.5 year old and she doesn't really have time. I thought about having the cleaning lady come more often, but I don't need the whole house cleaned that much each week, just picked up. Though I guess she does do laundry too.
I'm with shoegal, we have a Personal Concierge service. I just learned about it at an event a few months ago. I'd google your area and see if anything like that is available.

We don't have one person that does that but here groceries/dry cleaning can be delivered. I know a girl here that is a personal assistant and she does stuff like that for people though.
I prefer to do my own grocery shopping but she'll get milk, cleaning supplies etc as needed. I have her coming 3 days a week which is heavenly. I miss having her 5 days when she was full time before DS started school but even just having her 2 days for 4 hours to clean, laundry, watch the kids is good plus another full day of deep cleaning, pantry organization etc.
When I lived in Chicago I had someone sort of like this. I traveled every week for work so she came over once a week, checked my mail and checked on my apartment, cleaned up a bit, bought any groceries or household supplies that I left on a list, dropped off and picked up my dry cleaning, purchased gifts, etc. It was great. I found her on Craigslist.

I had this when my DD was a baby -- was totally separate from childcare. She worked 10-12 hours per week. Did my target runs, grocery runs, kept DD's closed sorted and (THIS WAS THE BEST THING EVER) started dinner 2-3 days per week. She also kept fresh fruit cut up for us in the fridge (fruit consumption went way up) and just generally kept us organized. If you can afford it, I'd absolutely recommend it. Made life so much easier!
ETA - I put the word out when DD was born that I was looking for someone and had a few names within a week.

I need to know more about this personal concierge service. I could seriously use this. I already have our groceries delivered & drop off our laundry for wash & fold. It would be awesome to have someone run all my errands.
Since my husband passed and I'm really far from family, I'm desperately seeking something like this. A personal assistant(aka adult babysitter) that could run a few errands and not let me eat fast food every day and pick up a little clutter and do a few administrative tasks for my business and bookkeeping. So far, I've had zero luck finding this OR grocery delivery OR a reliable cleaning person in my small town...so I have to do everything and my travel schedule is insane and I have no energy.
I think I just found my new calling in life. I have an odd love of running errands and general household tasks. I just want nothing to do with continual child care.

Where can I find such a person?
