We're hosting a Christmas party for a bunch of friends...I need to come up with a few games. There's a bunch of kids coming, but they will do a craft, eat, and then be herded off to watch movies in their jammies.
We are doing a gag gift exchange...DH just bought his gift for it yesterday. It's soap in the shape of a ring called "Weener Cleaner" I howled with laughter.
Any good ideas for party games? I think we'll probably play the game "things" because that's always a hoot.
I don't get that game. I've played it a few times and it's super boring..I've never played it with a group that actually got into it and made it fun I guess.
We started playing Dixit recently. I just love the beautiful cards. The guy at the game store compared it to Apples to Apples, which I've never played, so you might not like it. You get a hand of cards with really weird paintings on them (e.g. rabbit in a space suit), and you have to make up something about one of your cards (e.g. "strange explorer"). Then everyone gives you a card from their hand that might match the description and then everyone has to guess which card was the storyteller's. The storyteller gets points if only some of the people (not everyone and not no one) guess correctly. The other players get points if the storyteller loses (i.e. fools no one or everyone), if they are one of the ones that guess correctly, or if they fool another player with their cards.
Awe. We have secret cards that make everyone howl. It's usually a blast but only if you are drinking and/or just play stupid cards for fun. It's not fun if people are serious about it!
I was going to suggest this as well, but you really need the right group. We've played this at Christmas with my family and have made some great memories.
Spoons! We are however not the classiest family in the hood. Apples to Apples is fun if you have a bunch of sarcastic drunk people. Good times. Scattegories is also kind of fun. Really here we just play a lot of cards.
I like apples to apples too. And spoons! Oh my gosh, our family would get so into that game. Spoons would be flying - breaking into pieces.. it's dangerous! We also play euchre.
Oh man. Game of Things is a must at all parties. We play it every year at our ugly sweater party, but make the rule that your answers must somehow be winter related. It makes for some pretty interesting responses.
We always play Catch Phrase with friends, which is fun. Loaded Questions can also be fun with a group; they have an adult version too, but not sure if you want to play that with kids there.
