I made it my mission this week to go rug shopping while we were waiting on our floors to get finished.
I told MH that we had until thursday to find a rug in person (he was wary of online shopping for a rug), and if we couldn't find anything I'd order one online.
Saturday we stopped into a place with a big banner sign outside saying they were having a rug sale and ended up finding something that makes me happy color wise, feels great (super thick wool) and was a pretty good price. (cheaper than I've found it online) It's not quite what I had pictured, but when i got it back to my IL's and laid it out on the floor with my inspiration artwork I was smitten. It really pulls out the colors of the prints (oh yeah...with an 's'. Because I went back and purchased two new prints from the same artist. The first one I had was just too small to make the impact I wanted).
print for color inspiration:
I can't PIP my new owl prints because etsy is blocked at work. They're "frosty barn owl" and "out of the dark" from this etsy shop if you're curious. www.etsy.com/shop/OnlyPrettyThings
I wanted to go more gray originally, but I think this actually works better. Frees me up to go as gray and/or purple as I want on the walls without having it be too monochrome. And I like that it pulls out the yellow-gold color from the edges of the feathers.
