Oh I love it so far! Can't wait to see it stained. How's the process been so far?
We modified the plans we found on Ana White's site, so it took time figuring out what we wanted to do. Then when we glued the boards together, there were a lot of variations in height. So we sanded and sanded so that the top was even and smooth. Hours of sanding. Hours.
Once the table top was sanded, we attached the legs to the aprons that are under the table that support it.
At that point, we had the table top and the legs and supports but they weren't connected. DH had cut a groove in each of the pieces connected to the legs, and we used tabletop fasteners to connect to the top.
We've done one Ana White project and DH had to modify quite a bit. So it's interesting to see other's experiences with her plans.
We didn't like the look of putting 2x4s together for the legs. And we didn't want the brace between the end legs. Oh, and we couldn't find 2x6s at HD in the nicer wood that we wanted to use. So we modified the plans to suit our wants.
If that is pine, use a prestain before you stain otherwise the stain will be blotchy. Going to be a great piece to have in your home!
Thanks! I applied the last this morning. I have been following the directions closely, because I will bawl if it turns out blotchy after all of the work we've put into this.
