I am voluntering at my local pug rescue 5K and bake sale in two weeks. I need to make some stuff for the bake sale, but I am totally stumped. It will be early June (so probably hot) and many of the people there will have just run the 5K. Any suggestions/recipes on things to make?
Right now my top choices are sugar cookies and lemon bars, but I am open to ideas and suggestions. I don't think cupcakes will work because the frosting could get super melty and its hard to transport them.
I also wasn't sure if muffins or scones might be good? The race starts at 9 am.
I'm a big fan of chocolate chip cookies (or any other cookie that has chips and a soft gooey center like white chocolate macadamia) and brownies. I can easily pass up everything at a bake sale, but I can't say no to those things. Even if I did just run a 5k, there always room for a good cookie or a brownie.

i feel this way about rice krispie treats. i almost never make them at home, but from a bake sale? yes, please!
I notice at sales like that, people tend to buy things sold in actual somewhat professional looking bags, vs ziplock bags or basic cling plastic wrap.
You might be able to do something similar with mini muffins. Though muffins tend to get a little sticky/slightly soggy at the top when packaged in plastic.
Hey if you got the cellophane bags, you could also do a simple trail mix! That would probably be a big hit. Raisins, almonds, sunflower seeds, chocolate chips, mini pretzels, etc.
The last bake sale I contributed to I made cupcakes and put them in little cups and individual bags with ribbon and cute tags describing that they were red velvet. They were super cute but they didn’t sell very well.
I made classic cookies like chocolate chip, chocolate cookies with white chocolate chips and iced sugar cookies and they always sell quickly, kids grab those. My mom does the rice krispies and those sell as well.

Those cupcakes in cups are awesome! A friend made those last year for a shower as favors, but put them in mason jars. I love the disposable cup idea for a bake sale.
I always feel like bake sale items are smooshed, banged up, etc., as they aren't packaged well, or look like they came out of a kids lunch box. Love how those cupcakes above, look.
You have already got sooo many awesome ideas! If you go the cookie route, make them big. I use an ice cream scoop and mine will sell out before anyone even touches the normal sized cookies.

I shouldn't have opened this thread. It's 85 out today and I'm trying to figure out how I can justify turning the oven on tonight to bake half the items suggested
I think you have gotten great suggestions. I love RR's cupcakes in cups. They're adorable. Choc covered pretzel rods and cocolate chip oatmeal cookies sounds great to me as well.
