Which date for xmas party?

DH and I are thinking of having a Christmas party. Would December 15th or December 22nd be a better date? I've heard that mid December can be rough b/c people are running around and trying to get things done. But I'm afraid people might be out of town on the 22nd.

Thoughts? We may conduct a straw poll amongst our friends.

I'd go with the 15th - a lot of people go out of town by the 22nd.
