DS's sleep has officially gone to shit. HE is 6.5 months, 20lbs. Big kid.
He goes to bed no problem around 630pm (bath, bottle, bed). He then wakes around 930-10 for a nurse (I dont mind this one, Im still up. He is then still waking around 2 and 5 to snack, and then at 630-730 for the day.
I really, really, want to eliminate the 2 and 5am wakeups. He does drink a bit, although sometimes its more of a comfort nurse.
The other issue is that he rolls on his tummy, gets his arm stuck in the crib and gets pissed off.
So talk to me about your successful sleep-training.
Could you put a mesh bumper up to prevent the stuck issue.
What happens if you don't go in there? I would wait him out. Look at the clock and set a time in your head before you go in. 10 minutes would be the minimum I would suggest unless he goes baitshit. See if he can go back to sleep or at least let him really tell you that he needs to be attended t He needs time to work this out himself. I didn't do any formal sleep training program. But just waiting the kid out helped me break the habit.
We used The SleepEasy Solution, which uses dreamfeeds and a version of CIO. It worked really well for us. Within a week, DS went from waking up every 1.5 to 2 hours all night long to sleeping 12+ hours with 2 dreamfeeds. We then dropped the dreamfeeds when we were ready without a problem.
Well what we have been doing and seems to be slowly working is what eddy suggested - I check the clock, wait 5 or 10 minutes, then go in, comfort him etc, put him back down, if he is still crying I wait some more, go back in, etc.
Sometimes I do nurse him (last night I did after an hour of this) but I'm trying to not have that be the first line of defense, kwim? He is definitely learning how to go to sleep on his own and calm himself down, but it's not consistent yet.
And wow 20 lbs! I was thinking he looked big lol. DS is just over 15 lbs and is starting to look skinny ha (but he is long)
Have you started solids yet? Can he roll both ways? Take a paci or his thumb?
He has started solids but he doesn't love anything. Rice cereal - ok, some peas, but most fruits and veggies he doesn't seem to like. We've tried repeatedly.
He takes his thumb. He has trouble with tummy to back roll yet.

I hesitate to suggest CIO since he can't roll both ways well. He's pretty large for a 6mo, and I would guess that his 5am wakeup is really when he wants to wake for the day. Can you try putting him down later? Or maybe have him do a short, late nap and then wake to eat and then put him down around 7:30-8? Or I would try a dream feed before he usually wakes up at night.

We are doing the dream feed at 10pm (well, it started as a dream feed, and now he wakes up).
He definitely doesn't want to wake for the day at 5, as he falls asleep again while feeding and sleeps till at least 630, but usually 7or later.
We've tried pushing his bedtime later but he is a BEAR! LOL.
So maybe I need to wait till he can roll both ways to CIO?
