Like, really dumb. I need to go to Home Depot or Lowe's after work (I'm assuming that's where I go) to get one of those 5-gallon buckets, for brining my turkey. I never go to those stores. What part of the store do I go to to find those buckets? Paint? Garden section? I am clueless.

At Home Depot they often have them RIGHT as you walk in. People use them as sort of a shopping basket so they usually have them where you'd expect to see shopping baskets.
If im not mistaken, I have picked them up in the paint department. Awesome idea for the turkey. And other things... I was trying to soak a cedar plank, and my sink isn't big enough, so I was trying all kinds of things to make it work. But the bucket sounds like it will work.
Honestly, I wouldn't use a bucket from home depot because I'm paranoid about BPA and food-safe plastic. I have 5 gallon soy sauce buckets I'd be happy to loan you.

I guess I wouldn't be *too* worried about it for this one thing. Plus I thought the risk was higher if you heat the plastic (like going through the dishwasher/microwave)? I mean, obviously it's not made for food, but I would think it would be ok this one time. Also, maybe there are large food bags you could line it with if you were worried?
Yep, im going to line the bucket. I dont want to use our cooler because the bacteria from a raw turkey grosses me out and I would be paranoid about not getting the cooler clean enough. The bucket will be full of ice water and kept outside, so it won't be heated at all.
Good point tho Jenn. I dont like messing around with BPA.
large food bags, or a cooler. good idea. you don't need soy sauce buckets.
and ms. whiteasian.... nope. that's it. that's all we eat.
I'm really curious now... I did not know soy sauce came in buckets. I need to google image this.
Thanks ladies! Mission accomplished. I don't have a house, and Home Depot is just reeeeeally foreign territory for me. And H is stuck at work late so I couldn't pass it off on him, hehe
