i've done *no* research on it. but i signed up for one. i'm responsible with credit cards (so no lectures about too many cards), i wanted the free alterations.
For every 2000 points or something like that, they send you a $20 "Nordstrom note" that's basically like a gift card. They do a lot of double points days at the beginning of their sales, and you can pick a day each calendar year for your "triple points" day. I rack up Nordstrom notes pretty quickly.
ETA - $1 spent = 1 point.
So, on double points day, if I spend $10 on something, I'd get 20 points. etc etc.

I don't have much to add. I have had one for years and love it. I do know that you get invited to private events if you have charged a certain $ amount on your card at Nordstroms, which is pretty cool. You also get double and triple points during sales. You also earn double pts for Nordstroms purchases vs. none Nordstroms.
I use mine as my back up credit card and for all Nordstroms purchases.

We just signed up last weekend since DH threw down $$ for a new work wardrobe. One reason we did it was $200 in free alterations. In addition to regular alterations that are typically covered, he's having two suit coats taken in and a dress jacket.
You get so many triple points days a year, and they allowed us to use it on our first day which means I'm waiting on a ton of Nordstrom Notes to buy myself something nice for spending 5 hours shopping with him.
so the point system is equivalent to about 1%...... which doesn't make it worth it, since i have cash back cards with my lowest one being 1.5%.....so i wont' be using the card unless it's a triple point time!

Yeah but the more you use it, the more benefits you get. Like- you could pick a random day that you'd like to make a triple points day. I don't have all the bennies memorized, but this and my Southwest Visa are the two cards I use the most.
