We went to Best buy and got a new one, but they can't deliver until Sat. and we don't have access to a truck :-( Thanksgiving week. WHYYYYY?? Luckily I planned and ordered a ready-made T-day dinner already, but I don't have any idea what we'll do about leftovers. We were able to put some things (dairy, veggies) in a neighbor's fridge, wrap the apples and squash for the basement, and pack our chest freezer with some Trader Joe's frozen things, but it's going to be a miserable few days I think.
You can usually rent a truck from Home Depot or lowes for cheap. I know that Uhaul also has an in town rental that's pretty cheap.
Yeah, you have no idea how cheap my husband is. I should have said no access to a free truck. Because basically it's the same thing. BB will deliver for free on Sat., so I would literally have to cry to get him to agree to a rental. Maybe in a couple of days I'll be able to work up some tears, but I'm not there yet And even if he did agree to it, I'd never hear the end of it.
We've done the HD rental before; they only let you rent if you are buying something from them.
On the plus side, I'm currently drinking as much cold beer as I can because it's about to be a very valuable commodity around here.
Lol!!!!
Worst timing ever on the fridge . But look at the bright side! A new fridge doesn't require a permit
That is a bright side. Sorry to hear about your issues. We always pull permits, but our city isn't as bad as yours (at least they haven't been with us; I have heard some horror stories). I'd suggest ix-nay on talking about the new indows-way while the inspector is there. In fact, I think you should talk as little as possible, haha.

Knowing, me, yes, I shouldn't talk. That's why I told hubby to take care of it while I'm at work . Just realized we have unpermitted recessed lighting all around the solatube. I wish I could turn back time. Someone told me we only had to get permits on things over 3k and I believed it
Hope u survive fridgeless. My hubby would refuse to pay for shipping too.

I am pretty sure that if I had to go without a refrigerator for more than a day or two, only because my DH was too cheap to pay for delivery/rent a truck, he would 'never hear the end of it.'
I have to work today, but maybe I'll look around tonight. I did luck out a bit. Neighbors are leaving tomorrow morning for a trip and coming back Sat. night. We are taking care of their cats while they are gone, so we have access to their fridge the whole time (with their permission of course). They are working on cleaning out their fridge for their trip, so there will be plenty of space. Thank God for nice neighbors!
TBM, you just have no idea. I love him, but God he's a diva sometimes. If I tried to out-diva him, there would be no living in this house.
Good idea, but I'm 99% sure ours only lets you rent it if you purchase something big from HD; we've asked before. Also, there's the matter of getting rid of the old fridge. BB's free delivery includes that; if we DIY, I would have to DIY the haul away (wouldn't even know where to go), get DH on board to help get it in the truck (not gonna happen; see: diva), and pay for disposal. I checked and through my trash co., haul away will be about $100. With the neighbor's fridge, I think I'll be OK. Annoying week, but I don't know that DIYing delivery/haul away would be less annoying.
