My parents want DS (2.5) to stay with them from Thursday night to Sunday afternoon. It wouldn't be a big deal if they would do things like bathe him, feed him veggies, give him naps, supervise him around their dog, and oh, clean their house once in a while.

I am way happier that someone feels my pain than I should be.
DH is wary about it, but he says that his parents get to keep him all the time. Yes, but if my parents would pretend to give a damn about actually caring for a toddler, rather than thinking its hilarious that they fed him so much junk food that he puked, it would be a different story.

Sorry. It sucks to have to deal with that. Maybe if you can just hold out a few more years your kid will have good enough judgment to take care of himself a bit when he's with them. But for now? No fucking way!
I stopped being polite about it and started getting blunt. My mom still acts super offended and claims that it's only like that because of 'YOUR FAAATHER!' but they know I'm right. Once I finally say 'your house is a fucking health hazard and so we're staying somewhere else' every year, they stop asking.
My dad and ILs tried that. They kept asking when they were going to keep DS overnight. We finally had to stop beating around the bush and just give it to them straight.
