I met BIL and SIL's baby for the first time today. They are 40 and 41 and never really wanted kids and side-eyed us whenever DS would freak the eff out. He was a HARD baby, so that was pretty much every time we were around them. He had a milk intolerance, reflux, and had major gas problems so he was miserable. They were not baby people (their words) and just acted kind of like having to accommodate our screaming kids was a huge annoyance. You know, side glances we weren't supposed to see, never even acknowledging they were there, that kind of thing. Their baby wasn't planned, but they decided they were excited about having him. We had thanksgiving today and their 2 week old screamed the.entire.time. They finally gave up frazzled and left. They've never looked so sheepish. We were talking about how linus was the same way and she was asking for pointers and asked a stressed "well what was wrong with him and how did you fix it?". I know it sucks to go through, but it felt so good to finally have the polite, calm, well-behaved kids, and for them to eat their words.
