I want to get my person something super special for the exchange, but I'm having the hardest time! We've already discussed how Target is dull repeats this year, but I'm having a hard time everywhere else too. None of it seems special or original. How about you?
I've actually bought two that I'm trying to decide between. It took a lot to find them, though and I didn't want to get it from any of the stores we always talk about here. I ended up going to a factory store having a super sale near work and a store from a small chain that I know doesn't operate in my person's area.
I just ordered a bunch of super-cute ornaments online (from Amazon and Bronners.com). I have trouble finding ones for our tree in stores every year, so this year I just decided to go ahead and order ones I really loved.

We always get an ornament from wherever we vacation each year and then we buy a new one each year, usually from Hallmark. This year since we bought a house Hallmark had one that said "Our new house 2012" so I got that one. My mom just gifted us a really cute hand-painted ornament but I have no idea where she got it.
I hear you. I sent my person some classics from C*B. I figured it was a safe bet and ones I've purchased for others before so I know they're beautiful. They had some other cute ones too.
The other ornaments I had to buy I actually bought a local gift shop today. Etched colored glass with some designs. They cost enough but everywhere else I've been sucks so it was worth it.
Herberger's or whatever it's called where you live have some really nice ones. I bought one for my MIL with the 3 wise men and a star. Super classic clear and gold. The other was a cardinal for a friend.
actually, i shopped in the mainstreet/downtown shops of my sister's town this past weekend and was happy with what i was able to find. we went there for the Thanksgiving holiday and i have found cute things in their shops before. it was blustery/windy, but we just made quick time of it between stores. i think i was able to find 3-4 for my H&G draw and a couple for ourselves.

I actually found one at our hospital gift shop. I had looked at a few regular stores without luck. Then one day I was walking back from getting coffee and saw it in the window.
I live near an artsy farsty little town, so this isn't a huge issue here. Most of my ornaments have come from museum or historical place gift shops. I've also repurposed other objects as ornaments- cookie cutters, old spoons, one year I did a tree with real gingerbread men, kiddie scissors and paper chains.
Me! I've seen a couple I like but nothing I'm in love with. I have picked up a few though and have to decide what to send. Just hoping the ones I decide to send are enjoyed.

Crate & Barrel's are surprisingly inexpensive and they have some really cute ones. I got a few mercury glass ornaments for an exchange. They have 15% off and free shipping today.

I have felt mostly uninspired by the ornaments I've seen at the big-name stores too. There's some great ones, but I think I get so discouraged by sorting through all the not-so-great ones that I totally miss the good ones.
I found the one I'm sending at a local art gallery. Within the $$ limit and beautiful/unique (since they're art pieces). I'm actually a little jealous of my giftee.
