This is MIL's stove. It's a GE. I think it's from the '60s. I've been trying to search for replacement knobs for it and haven't been able to get anywhere. As you can see, the knobs are completely illegible. Poor woman has a legend so she can remember what the settings are supposed to be. You get super duper nestie thank you points if you can find knobs for it for Christmas while I study for finals
When we had our 40s stove redone, the guy was able to repaint our original knobs. Any chance you could find a refurbisher in your area? It could probably be done through the mail too if you want a rec.
I learned to cook on such a stove. The knobs on my mother's- she had several houses- tended to be aluminim with paint which would wash off over time. Ugh.
I know a model number would make this a cinch, but I don't have one. I won't be back to MIL's til Christmas Day. When I snapped these pics, it was the first time she had been out of the kitchen for more than 5 minutes the whole weekend - I didn't have time to look for the model number since I almost got caught as it was! FIL's kind of useless, otherwise I'd enlist his help.
Auntie, replacement knobs are stupid expensive! I had to do 4 knobs on our '80s cooktop (which died 4 months later ) and they were $80.
Or could you email a picture to the people at the appliance part place? If they're the ones I recall, they have that nasty chrome that comes off in sheets and gives metal splinters.
