DS1 is 6 and they look like they would be fun for him. Are they worth it? I see from reviews that the batteries run out quickly, but you can buy them in bulk.
We have the nano hex bugs, which I think are neat and the kids like. They are getting the little habitats for them for Xmas. The bigger ones look too real and creep me out.
Ha! I want to know this too! I have been looking at them and can't decide if they are a good buy for almost 4yo DS #1. Are they just the bug version of Zhu Zhus?
I don't know what Zhu Zhus are, but I was looking at getting a habitat and maybe a couple bugs. I see they have remote controlled ones, but those suckers are expensive.
My girls have had them--the batteries do run out fairly quickly. My girls lost interest after a time or 2...eventually they got put on a shelf or stepped on(broken). They're cool though.
DS is 4 and LOVES them. Endless entertainment... at least until the batteries die, but I got 100 for $13 on amazon, so it's no worse than half their other toys.

My 4 year old loves them. It's not a toy he plays with daily or even weekly, but when he does, he spends hours playing with it. The more habitat pieces, the better. Part of the fun is creating the mazes for the bugs.
I put one of the nanos in DH's stocking last year and we thought it was pretty cool. Our cat was freaked out by it. They only bad part was when it went under the couch and came out dragging a big dust bunny. Cleaning fail!
