Yeah if he's mixing it then I am not sure how much it matters. I have been drinking Old Overholt Rye in my cocktails now thanks to a nestie suggestion. I would also add something fun like this large ice cube tray. It melts very slowly and it is better for mixed drinks than the whiskey stones.

Downside of moving out of Wisconsin: liquor is really fucking expensive. Old Overholt is nearly TWICE the price per liter in Virginia. TERRIBLE!
I didn't remember who it was, thank you! It is $13 here, which is so ridiculously cheap... but perhaps more ridiculous that we go thru a bottle a week or more. That's ok right?
Also, when we make manhattans these cherries are the best. I don't make them often though because our vermouth goes bad faster than we can use it.

DH has had Johnny Walker Blue, but he actually thought Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey was far better and smoother....it's about $47 i think and you have to order it online from colorado...they won't ship to PA or NJ so I actually had to have them ship it to friends in NY.
Our favorites are American (bourbon): Jim Beam, Evan Williams Canadian (blended): Canadian Club Irish: Powers, Tullimore Dew Scottish: Auchentoshan (a smooth single malt tripled distilled lowland)
