i want to buy new sheets. i can't decide if 400 is "good enough", which i know it is, but if i'm splurging..what's an extra 20ish bucks for 500, and then another 20ish for 600....etc.
Are you buying online? 'Cause I like to go in the store and feel them. I used to always be nice ones, but the ones I have now are cheap and they are just fine. I think 300+ is fine.
I agree with this. Some of the higher thread count sheets don't feel comfortable. I like going into the store and feeling the sheets.
My Mom told me a while ago the lower the thread count the stronger the sheets are. I bought some 600 and they didn't even last a month, and DH had worn through them with his heels in his sleep.. grrr. Anyway now I bought some 300 or 400 (i can't remember) and those are holding up way better. I got them in Costco this time around.
I have no idea, but I went through several sets of cheap ones because they got scratchy and pill-y, so now I'm hooked on the charter club/hotel collection ones at Macy's (someone gave us one set for our wedding and then I broke down recently and bought a second set because the cheap ones sucked).
ETA: it didn't matter what the thread count was and I would even try to pick out 'nice' ones with the right fabric etc at Ross and no matter what, they all sucked after a couple months
