This used to happen at my parents' house in New England. Is it cold where you are? Sometimes they come in because it's warm and toasty inside. They probably die because they don't have access to food and water wherever they crawl in.

vagrant, free loading ladybugs! somebody needs to tell them about bootstraps.
That happens around here every year, around this time of year. I know the forrestry/agricultural service will release them en mass to help control some other kind of bug (I think?). Then we hit the right temp and they all start dying at once.
It sucks when they first release them, those fuckers bite and I did not know that until they started doing the release thing.
I went to a wedding a few weeks ago where the church was infested with them. They were in piles all over the window sills and pews. I guess the couple will have really good luck.
My aunt told me on tday that they release them to help kill off the bad bugs or some crap.

No! Ladybugs don't bite! It's those awful Asian beetles that look a lot like ladybugs who are doing all the biting and infesting and whatnot. No more sullying the name of the noble ladybug!

I have a bunch in my house either dead or half dead. Are the impostor ladybugs more orange than the real thing? Also, we had a big problem with stink bugs which has been better lately but I guess they decided to winter in my attic which is also where I keep my Christmas tree and decorations that I took out this weekend. It was horrible I may have cried and screamed more than once. :-| +o( +o(

I am in Texas and we have this problem this time of year too and it makes me ragey against ladybugs. Even more so now that I know they are imposter ladybugs.
