oh, i had another time, too. i was summoned, but i wrote excused for school and they've never gotten back to me since. this was like 6 years ago.
Does that make you a fugative on the run?
i think so!! they never "confirmed" my excuse, and i just never showed up. it was during finals week though, so i wasn't going to skip school for that.
Ha, I was picked for jury duty in Kitsap county, three years after I had "transferred" my voter registration to King County. I'd get my King co ballot, but Kitsap co ballots kept showing up at my parents' house in my name. I called the Kitsap co elections dept every time I got a ballot, and they'd say oh, sorry, it's fixed now, then I'd get another. Then I got a Kitsap co jury summons. By the time my mom got me the summons so I could call them, it was like a week before I was expected to appear. I called, they said oh ok, no biggie. Then, the week I was supposed to go, my parents came home to a voice message at their home #, saying there was going to be a warrant issued for me for not showing up for jury duty. My dad finally called the kitsap co elections auditor and ripped him a new one. No ballots or jury summons ever since, but sheesh. I could have commited election fraud for years without being noticed.
Now, I'm wishing I would get called for jury duty. H got it last year, and the court house is like 5 mins from our house and you don't have to be there till 9am. My employer would pay for it. It would be sweet.
The only time I received a summons was when I was a freshman in college. Um, yeah, I wrote in that I was unable to comply as I was going to college in Tacoma, Washington and was unable to travel to SOUTHERN OREGON for jury duty I wouldn't mind going for a short trial...but my office does not compensate at all either.
I've been summoned in California and in King Co. The last time I was on a trial. After the trial I was so frustrated. It was a case where people with a penthouse condo on West Seattle left for a few months during winter and didn't have heat on in the house. Just happened that it was one of the coldest winters on record and pipes froze, burst and then flooded the apartment below. The HOA was suing the owners.
Well I was on a jury with a bunch of people that hated HOAs. Like with a passion. And me and another guy were the only ones that did not rule on behalf of the owners.
