TMI question (periods and stuff)

ok, so weird... I'm on BCP and the last couple months I've noticed spotting and it's taken a couple months for me to be like "oh, it happens about halfway through my cycle, I wonder if this is like ovulation or something". So I googled. I guess that's what this is? Does this normally happen when you're on the pill? I am NOT trying to GTFKU so I have no idea about this stuff, but is that what this is? So um, is my BCP not working and I'm ovulating? (I may know stuff about the immune system, but not about this!)

I occasionally will get a tiny bit of spotting in the middle of my cycle. I don't know about the BC portion of it.

I'm on bcp, and I haven't had spotting before the week I'm "scheduled" to have my period. Did you skip any pills, or take weird herbal stuff that might have messed with the hormones?

well, I've never successfully skipped because any attempt has always resulted in a period anyway, lol. I feel like I have crazy strong hormones or something - I still get decently heavy periods too (although not as heavy and not painful like before). This is relatively new though. Not sure about what I may have taken... hm. I recently started Allegra? lol I can't think of anything else that has changed. I'll think about this though, thanks.

Maybe this was a depo thing, but i thought that bc made you keep ovulating, but nothing would stick?

I read allergra as viagra and was very confused for a moment.

I would definitely check with your doctor.

I have no idea! Ugh, why is this so confusing. Maybe it depends on the type of BCP? Like, if they all do different things or something. I guess it's mostly weird that is started somewhat recently and I've been on this one for a couple years now.

I could have written this word for word. I've had mid cycle spotting from time to time, as long as I've been on bcp, and it always freaks me out a little. I've asked my doc about it, and she says it's just breakthrough bleeding and not a reason for concern. I'd be curious to know what your doc thinks tho.

interesting. I feel like I've heard about this, but I always assumed it was something that might happen from the start - like they tell you when you first go on BC (or try a new one) that this might happen, but it's never happened to me before on any pills and then just started. I'll let you know what she says!

This happened with me all the time on my bcp. I have the IUD now and I still get it from time to time. If it's something new for you, though, I think you should check with your doc.

ok, well at least it's good to know this isn't totally abnormal. I sent her an email!
