these prices make me want to cry. I would love to do a family trip to Disney. How did you get free passes? You always have the best connections, Auberge.[/quote] Not me, my H. Thank goodness! $369, that's crazy
The one time I went to WDW I went woth a friend who worked for ESPN (owned by Disney) so we had free park hopper passes and half off of our hotel. It was awesome.
My mom says were "bushee" because were used to living the finer things in life because of my H's hook ups. So true.
The few times I've had to full price for hotels, travel, etc. I get so pissed because we stay at luxury places for free. All the taste and none of the money LOLOL
We went to Disneyland for the day and it was 500 dollars for the two of us between parking, food and entry. Insane. When we went for a week to Disney WORLD including flights, meal plan, hotel, etc. it cost well over 4k. Luckily we were gifted that trip :-O
Parking annoyed me. $15 in addition to admission? Crazy.
Does anyone have tricks on how to get into the park without paying for parking? We stayed at a Hyatt, not a Disney property, so we had to drive ourselves in a rental car.

We went last month and 5 day passes were something like $900 for 2 adults, one kid, and one free baby. But we stayed at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek and the Hilton Bonnet Creek (HIGHLY rec either and soooo much less expensive and NICER than Disney hotels) so that saved a bit. Plus we had a full kitchen. I didn't cook too much, but I'm a person that hates eating out for every meal, it's just too gross. The 9 nights came to something like $3k all up. Maybe $3500 with fun money. I spent my fun money on cocktails.
ETA: I don't know how my parents did it either. We only went once when my brother and I were 8 and 12. And we camped at the Disney campground.
To be fair that's the price for one day park-hoppers. Most people wouldn't (or shouldn't) attempt to do both parks with a young child if they were only visiting for one day. I think tickets for one day one park would be $255. Still a lot, but over $100 cheaper.
We converted our 4-day hopper passes in to season passes because it did not cost that much to upgrade. Crazy expensive. Between the park hopper and the Grand Californian, we spent a ton. Loved Cars Land!
That said, I prefer winter and weekdays in the parks.

I so wish we had Cars Land here. DD would go NUTS.
The one time I was supposed to go as a kid (so, we're talking 30 years ago... yikes) - our car brokedown on the way down to FL and all my parents fun money went into getting it fixed. So we had to do SeaWorld instead.
LOlol. This happened to us too. We stayed at a motel in AL and enjoyed the pool for a couple of days. We still went to Disney though. We met my grandparents there. I think they paid for it.

they usually have deals if you stay in the park, up to 40% off or free meals, which saves a lot too. we go almost every year and spend about 2,000 for a week. i don't think it's that bad. yes, if you only go for 1 day it's expensive, but the more days you buy, the cheaper it is. As you add each day to the pass, it's only about 10 or so more. It's that initial first day that's expensive. have fun! going for free is great!

FI and I went in college together. During the recession they had an awesome deal - get in free on your birthday and FI's birthday is one day after mine. I haven't been back since, so idk if they still have that deal. We went to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We road-tripped it and stayed at a friend's place because we were too young to use my parent's timeshare. For a whole week, and 2 days in Disney, I think we spent about $300 each. For food, we packed sandwiches and stored them in the car while we were in the park and just went out to the car when we got hungry. That trip was one the best trips I ever took - most of the time for food we ended up stopping by the grocery store, bought bread and peanut butter and jelly and had that for dinner - but we ended up going all over FL and FI went to see Mickey for the first time No matter how much they raise prices, Disney will always have a special place in my heart.
CloudBee - I know some resorts, if they are close enough, have shuttles that will drop you off at Disney. There is/was (I'm not sure if it's still there) a campground about 5-10 min away that has shuttles.

It's my understanding that Disney says this is stealing to do some of the workarounds. $14 at WDW doesn't seem terrible to me to park.
I took my sister less than a week ago. A one day ticket (and this is with the new Fantasyland) is $89. You don't really need the hopper for adults if you plan what day to go carefully--the park was open 9-12midnight, and we had plenty of time to ride every single thing. We didn't even get there until 11, honestly.
The cheapest possible pass that is a great deal is what I have. $199 seasonal weekday pass. For two hundred bucks, as a Florida resident, I have been to the parks many times on weekdays as much as I want--and as a self-employed person, this is great. My husband and I loved to go.
We just went this summer. 2 adults, 2 teens, and 3 children. 10 days total, off Disney rental, took auto train down, kids and I flew home. 6k. We wont be doing that again for a very long time. Kids had a blast and hopefully it will give them plenty of memories. I prefer the beach where we can stay for a week w food and pay under 2k.
