I admire him for that post. And I'm not too surprised. He got married so young the first time and I'm fairly certain him and his wife were virgins.

He started out trying the "let's be friends" route - no, I don't want to be your friend, dude. Then he moved on to "when women google me, your post comes up and it's killing my dating life".

Is this related to that blog post someone put up a while back about mistakes people typically make in marriage (not closing the bathroom door, not bothering to doll yourself up anymore, etc.)? Because then yes, this should absolutely be reason #1, the end.

I am sort of skeptical that he wrote all these "insanely viral" (yuck) Pinterest-friendly articles and then came out with the biggest bomb of all. It feels somewhat calculated.

(and yes, I know coming out of the closet, even if you're bi and not 100% gay, is difficult. But he says that he's had niggling doubts about his sexuality for 20 years, so to write multiple lists saying that your marriage would have worked if only you'd closed the door when you pee is disingenuous if you know in the back of your mind that you weren't sexually compatible.)

I made my H read that post when it was posted a few weeks back. Last night, when I told him that the blogger had come out, my H rolled his eyes and I had to apologize for making him read that...lol. Both of his exes strongly suspected that he was gay so I find it kind of weird that he is scared that women won't want to date him and consider him a potential life partner. Like, it didn't work 2 times already...

Okay, maybe I'm missing something. I'm pissed that he acceprs as okay that everyone hates homosexuals. I have friends with varying degrees of acceptance, and it's NEVER okay for the types of jokes or commentary that he describes. So, yeah if you're bi, and all your friends are total prick asshole dicks, that's a problem. I've always thought being bi would be way more difficult than being homosexual, just because I've seen friends that are both, and there seems to be better acceptance in communities for homosexuals.

Also, what the shit is with his assumption that he'll become a child abuser or rapist or something now that he realizes his true sexuality? This makes me sick. Gay =\= child molester. Nor does bi. WTF.

Huh. Someone else posted this post earlier this week and I thought it was a good blog post. Maybe I'm easy to please.

I personally thought the "16 things" post rang true in a lot of ways, as did the followup. So did many of you. So despite the fact that he's now saying he's gay, I don't think that made those posts completely useless or lies. I think they were mostly good advice.

If this guy's posting about being gay or bi because he wants attention, that's a whole other story. If he's posting that because it's true, I don't see any reason for the hate. I know you guys aren't hating him because he's gay (for the record) but hating him because he posted a very real post about marriage advice and then came out later doesn't make any sense to me. People are complicated. Doesn't make them a liar, KWIM?

I agree with you. I don't know the backstory of how horrible he is but I don't see as impossible that if you aren't comfortable with your sexuality you start blaming other aspects for the failure of the relationship while ignoring the big elefant in the room.

I don't hate him because of his sexuality or any of his posts about why his marriage(s) failed. I just dislike how he's a shameless self-promoter and expects others to get him out of his bad choices (ie: quitting his job to blog full-time without a good plan in place).
