We usually ALWAYS put it up the day after Thanksgiving. This year I was sick with a stomach bug so we got it the Saturday afterwards. It's usually pretty crispy by Christmas, but we are out of town so it doesn't really matter.
We missed traditional Thanksgiving this year being away on vacation. We came back last Saturday, got up early because of jet lag and put everything up. This is the first year we were able to have a tall tree so we were excited.

Lol sparks! One year when i was little our family cat made it about 5 feet up our 7 foot tree. It was about to tip over when my mom heard the jingling distress call.
We used to put it up during the weekend after Thanksgiving.
We're pushing it back this year. We decided that a full month of the dirty Christmas tree is just too much. H wanted to get it this weekend, but he went and made himself busy, so we'll actually do it next weekend.
I already took off work next Friday to get the house ready. H will be at work and DS will be at my mom's, so the boys will be out of my hair and I can get stuff done. I plan to clean the house, go through DS' toys, and then do a big goodwill run so there's room for the new stuff.

If I had my way we'd get our tree the day after Thanksgiving. Or close to it. H however is concerned about fire danger since we have a wood stove, and I refuse to do the artificial tree thing. So we usually wait until mid to late December. One year we got our tree on Christmas eve. I was not pleased.
I always leave the tree up at least until January 5th to make up for it. H complained about it one year and I told him that there are 12 days of Christmas and my tree stays up for all of them and it was non-negotiable. Truthfully, if I was able to put it up sooner, I may be inclined to take it down sooner too but I'm not telling him that!

Ha starrie, my H is another January 6 guy. Everyone else in our neighborhood takes all their decorations down on New Years, so I always feel like a dork for having ours up an extra week. I live with it though. How H got so attached to "Three Kings Day" I'll never know.
We usually put it up early December (sometimes Thanksgiving weekend if we have time). Last year it didn't get put up until about a week before Christmas because apparently no one in the house is capable of putting it up without me there. I was working a second job (retail) last year and was hardly home, otherwise it would have been put up earlier.

I get my decorations up so late... I just want to enjoy them for a while before I have to pack them all up again!
My XSIL, literally takes the tree and decorations down the afternoon of Christmas. I couldn't do that.

My dad used to put tree up on Christmas eve and take it down the day after Christmas.
However, now he does his Christmas shindig the Saturday after Christmas... so he gets the tree and sets it up on Friday (so he gets a leftover tree for like $1) and takes it down on Sunday.

The day after Christmas gives me heartburn a lot less than the day of Christmas. I guess it's more understandable for a grown up, but this woman has 2 young kids (4 & 6). Let them have a whole Christmas day, please!
And as far as other decorating, they will still up til roughly March. Most of my "Christmas" decoration are actually snowmen. So, I keep them around through winter.

It varies. This year I don't think we'll get one. We were traveling for almost 10 days around Thanksgiving, and will be in Hawaii the first half of December. And then we are closing on our first house (!!!) on the 27th, so we'll be getting ready to move the second half of December.
