BF had that awesome interview in Baltimore, sounds like he has a great chance of getting the job. He should find out any day now.
So because I am really antsy to get out of here, I've been applying for jobs just in case.
I got phone calls for two phone interviews this week. Had the first one this morning. They're both at John's Hopkins. If they had been throwaway, not worth it jobs I would have declined. But these are positions I would love to have.
They're both aware that I'm "in transition" and not on the east coast yet. I feel a little bit guilty, but escatic that I even got phone calls. There will be several rounds of interviews for each one.
Your overall goal is to get back to the east coast, regardless of whether you both move at once or if one follows the other as jobs come available... right?
If I'm understanding your goal correctly, then IMO no, not flammable.
Good luck! I'm trying to help my sister-in-law apply for jobs in our area and she is not here yet. I think she'd make the move if she could find a job first. Always a good idea to have a plan in place. And YAY I love the idea of you on the east coast!!!
Sorry, fuss and ziti. !! You'd think with all the research I've been doing, I'd remember something like that.
The flammable part is...if he doesn't get the job HE applied for, who knows if we'll end up in the Baltimore area or not. It depends on him. If he doesn't get the offer, I probably will have to decline this stuff.
And THANK YOU, all! My current job is really, really shitty right now. It would be so good to have a positive change.
Are there other opportunities for him in the Baltimore/DC area? It seems like if you got a really killer job there that you wanted, maybe he could do more research and find something that suited him too?
Just a head's up for any written correspondence, there's no apostrophe in Johns Hopkins.
I'm only saying because I'd toss a cover letter that didn't have the right name in it. Of course, I'm a total asshole, but still.
Actually, without giving out too much information... My company does work with Johns Hopkins. They're real sticklers for the proper spelling and usage of their name. We have alerts on all of their records, just in case.

Yeah gault...that part is HIGHLY flammable. Basically, you taking a kick ass job hinges on whether or not he gets one first. Why can't it work the other way around? How come you can't get a really great job and even if he doesn't get the one he originally wanted, he looks elsewhere in that area?
Wait, so you being able to accept a great offer is contingent on him getting the job he wants? Can't he look for other jobs in the area? That part isn't adding up!
He told me to take it, even if his job doesn't pan out, and he'll keep his search to that locale only. He's a good guy that way I'M the one with reservations about it. I want him to be able to have the best chance of getting something great - what if I get the job and he gets an offer from Wisconsin (which he's had a phone interview for in the past week)? His job is much more specific than mine.
But I know what you mean. And nothing fits in a box so neatly - only in my head.
