I'm about to start The Casual Vacancy. I'm a HP virgin (yes, really), so it doesn't need to live up to any expectations, but I'm slightly concerned that reviews have described it as depressing.
The Casual Vacancy is definitely not a happy book. It's worth reading, IMO, but it has a lot of unlikable characters and unhappy situations. I'd love to hear your thoughts as a non-HPer.
I'm just about finished with The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion, which is pretty fascinating. I feel very strongly about a lot of political issues, and this is helping me understand somewhat where people are coming from when their views are strongly opposite mine. I'm also reading Princess Elizabeth's Spy for a lighter, more fun book. It's the second Maggie Hope mystery.
Also sort of reading a non-fic called "Coast of Dreams" about California in the late 20th/early 21st century. It's loooong, but I hope to power through it this weekend. The rain we're getting might help!

See post from earlier today. Was also reading a Wally Lamb book - Wishin' and Hopin' for my book club but I'm not rally digging it. Might just start Anna Karenina this weekend if time allows. It's going to be a busy weekend.
I just finished The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton and it was AWESOME. Loved it.
I'm still listening to Atlas Shrugged but I'm actually almost done! It seems like I wasn't making any headway for like a month and a half and then all of a sudden was like 85% done. It's still a work of genius, but the last third or so has been decidedly weird. I'm curious to see how it ends.

I'm reading the sequel to The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. I just discovered this series, and I really like it! It's about a crime-solving 11 year old girl in a small village in 1950s England. Mindless, but fun!
