DH just got back from New Orleans on Saturday. He went into his suitcase yesterday to look for a package he bought me, consisting of several perfumes he bought while touristing through the French Quarter. Package didn't make it home. Either he took it out of his briefcase and left it in the hotel room (thinking he'd have to put it in his carry-on because they wouldn't necessarily pass muster in the carry-on due to restriction) or someone at TSA/baggage was looking through bags and came across the prettily packaged thing.
My H flies all the time, like probably 2-4 times per week. He has things stolen from his bag all.the.time. There's no recourse, bc it's basically his word against theirs. He tries to hide things, and unwrap new things to make them look nondescript.
He bought me this awesome DVF suitcase, and the counter chick at British Airways told me that I was breaking the cardinal rule of flying by having an ostentatious suitcase and I was at risk of theft from baggage handlers.
This makes me feel better about how embarrassingly beat up my big suitcase is.
Sorry to hear about your perfumes. Definitely call the hotel.
