definitely get 2 planetwise liners. Ours gets washed with every load of dirty diapers. Takes awhile to wash the diapers since they need so many rinses and whatnot, so the clean one goes in the pail right away.
as for a pail, I just got a $13 trash can with a step-lid at Walmart.
I have a stainless steel one from Container Store. LOVE it much more than a dedicated diaper pail (we had the Dekkor). I have two PW pail liners and that is plenty since the second is dry and ready to go by the time I need it.
We have a regular stainless steel trashcan with a step lid. Definitely get two liners. Once in a while for some reason both end up in the wash, and we put the diapers directly in the can, and they definitely smell. It's worth it to have two liners. I think we need three. LOL.

We use a metal Oscar The Grouch style can from Ikea with a PW wet bag. Lid's always off, no stink unless you've got your head in there. Agree with pp on having two bags on hand.
Plastic will absorb the poo smell over time, so I strongly recommend metal.
Now I'm tempted just to put a hook on the wall or side of the dresser, and hang zippered wet bags on that. Or do what justjen does, and keep the wet bag on top of her hamper.
We started out with two Diapor Dekor's and ended up getting rid of them - the diapers got too big to put in there and it was too hard to shake the inserts out of the pocket diapers into the pail. We ended up using a step trash can with a locking lid and had 2 PlanetWise liners (plus a bunch of smaller zip hanging bags for daycare). The locking lid was great once she was mobile enough to scoot around her room. That got us through 2 years of CD'ing with no stink issues.
