Hi! Quick background - my husband and I wanted to start TTC this fall. I finished my last pack of BC at the end of Sept. I had my normal period like I usually did on the BCP. I am currently on CD71 (which is miserable!!!!). I have tested many many times. Obviously BFN.
Here is where my question comes in... On Saturday night, I wiped and noticed some light brownish discharge. I Immediately got super excited because AF had finally arriving! Didn't really notice much the rest of the night.
Sunday morning I woke up, used the bathroom, and had bright red blood in the toilet. I put in a tampon and went for a run. Later I removed a full tampon, but barely spotted the rest of the day. Red and brown.
Yesterday I put in a tampon because I was sure tomorrow would be heavier, but removed a dry brownish tampon later that morning. Haven't had anything since.
Do I consider that as my period?? It lasted like a day. Could it be IB? I have OPKs for next cycle but I don't know if I consider this the start to a new cycle. Why does my body have to be so confusing! TIA!
This is tough. They say to count the first day of flow as CD1.
So, in theory, you had some flow...albeit light.
I would assume this was a period, though a weird one. But you can test again in a week to quell any doubts. Most people have a weird period or two anyways every now and then, let alone having just come off the pill.
Welcome aboard the crazy train. Hope your body figures itself out!
ETA: You should really call a doctor though, at this point. Just to check in.
I think anything after 50 days (not positive on that) you should see your doctor. Certainly by 71. They can give you something to jumpstart your period.
Often, it just needs a little help and you'll regulate after that. It would definitely be worth a call to your doctor though.
For some reason I was thinking 3 months (90 days) before I should call my doctor.. Guess I should get on that right away... :-|
The only thing that sucks even more is that I am in the middle of a move to a town over 2 hours away. I want to get everything figured out, but I would also like to get established closer to my soon-to-be home.
I think they say 60-90 days; every doc is different tho. If it had been two months, that'd be enough for me to throw a fit...but you know, I'm a little nutty...
After BCP I went over 90 days before I got a doctor to "jump start" by cycle.
(The doctor in the town I was working in was really old an said that if I don't drop my stress level I will never have a period again! She was the only doctor in the area. When I went back to my hometown on holidays I went to my family doc and he helped me so much. He then gave me his email address and he helped me with a few different cycle problems by faxing prescriptions to the local pharmacy! )
I went 90 days without a period in spring 2011. I hadn't been on bc since the previous August so my body was through regulating itself after bc. I tested of course and got a BFN which was a good thing at the time since my H had a vasectomy. We weren't ready for kids yet.
Anyway, so I made an appt with my ob-gyn since it was time for my annual too. She wasn't worried at all. She didn't give me anything and I think I ended up having my period two weeks later naturally.
So... as a nurse who works with plenty of obs, 90 days is when I worry. In fact, I'm on CD29 right now and haven't O'd yet and I'm not worried at all.
That is very nice to know, pooh! Your insight really puts me at ease. Thank you!
I think I am going to consider the bleeding at the beginning of the week as just a super short period and my body is still working itself out. I am going to stop stressing until after we move because moving during the holidays is causing enough stress as it is (which might be some of my problem!).
