I didn't say my situation was the same as anyone on food stamps. All I said, was that I think Mr. Booker's voice could be better used elsewhere. I admire him for doing it, it's not easily. I think he's a great political figure and respect him tremendously.
It's not like Mr. Booker's situation is the same as someone on food stamps either. So....
Actually, it's the people responding to me who make it about me. You all fucking claim to hate me and wish I'd DIAF yet people respond to me time and time again.
Or the seek me out once I stop posting.
So either accept who the fuck I am or use the block button. Otherwise, you're just as bad as me.
Everytime Bliss drops the eff bomb and points out that people hate her an angel gets his wings.
"Savvy political observers know Mayor Cory Booker, and few dispute that he is a rising star. But a recent poll shows Mayor Booker likely losing in a head-to-head gubernatorial contest against Governor Chris Christie in 2013. The popular governor leads the mayor 53% to 34% in the Rutgers Poll."
I'd also like to point out that if I were a single mom, I'd get more than $30 a week, because it would take into account that I had a child to feed. So whether it's $30 for a single person, or $45/60 w/ a child, it all comes out the same at the end.
I'm not a huge Christie fan ... I was enraged when he vetoed the gay marriage bill, and MH isn't fond of him because he feels he doesn't do enough to support teachers. Our policeman friend was a big Christie supporter when he was first running against Corzine and now he's not really a fan because he thinks he's not supporting cops enough, either.
But his ratings shot up after the way he handled Sandy. I really do admire that he's a straight-shooter type of guy and doesn't feed people a line of bullshit like so many other politicians do. Plus he's got a sense of humor. He seems like a very approachable person in many ways, and it seems like he has his own set of beliefs and defends them, rather than just saying what he thinks people want to hear. He's the one big-name Republican I can stomach.

I agree that his handling of Sandy has probably skewed that poll a bit but (hopefully?) will pull back when does something to remind people why they didn't like him before the storm.
I grew up in the same neighborhood as the Bookers did and his whole family is awesome. I keep waiting for his brother to run for office too (Booker/Booker 2020?). Also, he used to set up alerts for his name and make his staff sift through them all so maybe he'll find us.
I actually don't hate Christie either, at all. I think he has his heart in the right place when it comes to cleaning up some of the fiscal abuses in this state (which I see on a daily basis, dealing with public employment), and has done a fantastic job with Sandy. And I can see him struggling with gay marriage on a personal level, I think he'd support it if he didn't have national aspirations.
But I'm still not going to support a Republican when the Democratic candidate is my ideal. And Booker isn't so far left, either, he is a lot more moderate than many Dems in this state.
BUT I don't think Booker is going to run against Christie, and I believe Booker and Christie are friends. Many believe Booker will go to the Senate instead, when Lautenberg finally steps down.
I like Christie as a person too -- just vehemently disagree with most of his politics. And I'm surprised that the polls are THAT skewed in Christie's favor.

I'm guessing it's largely due to name recognition.
Yes, Cory Booker has name recognition among hardcore liberals and people who really pay attention. But your average moron (and yes, the average voter is a moron) probably doesn't know who Cory Booker is. Even in NJ. Especially in the aftermath of Sandy, Christie has top notch name recognition. I wouldn't put much stock in the poll numbers at this point in the game.

nah, everyone in Jersey knows Booker.
I think people are just happy with Christie. Hard to believe in such a liberal state, but he isnt focusing that much on social issues- he is focusing on our pocketbooks and taxes.
