I just got one new tire put on about a month ago. I now need to get another one put on. (Both were punctured by nails, and unfortunately, neither tire could be repaired.)
The other two tires have relatively low miles on them and have sufficient tread, but they are starting to show some spider cracks due to age.
Is it worth it to replace all the tires if I'm planning to sell it? Or should I just replace the one?
If it helps, we're talking about an 11-year-old compact car. No options. One owner. Slightly below average mileage. New brakes within the last 10,000 miles, and major clutch parts replaced within the last 3,000.
I'm not sure how much you are asking or how much your tires cost. Do you really think that new tires would encourage people to spend x% more on buying your car? Chances are that you would break even, if that.
I've sold an 11 year old car before. I don't think people have high expectations at that point, so I wouldn't bother to put more money into it than needed.
If the initial MSRP of this car was over 6 figures, I change my answer.
Gah, now we're back to the "Should we sell it?" question. It's paid off, and parking is free. It's not like it drives up our insurance that much, and I've put gas in it once in two months.
But I guess it's nice to have in case I want to use it? But then, a couple thousand dollars would also be nice to have.
I also hate the streets here, and after getting two nails in my tires within 3 weeks of each other, I'm sort of over cars.
Why am I so terrible at making decisions on my own?!
