My job announced in December that anyone living within 30 miles of an office must go back one or two days a week -- whether it's one or two, AND which day of the week, is assigned to you -- you don't get to pick what works for you.
Edit: to answer your question, H has these headphones and likes them: https:// amzn.to/3w5qgS9
Sorry, wrong pair, this is the pair he uses when working from home: amzn.to/47XwctO

At the time I got my first dog (as an adult), our local SPCA offered basic training classes with their staff behavior specialist (a CPDT-certified dog trainer). I don't remember how much they charged.
Also echoing others to find a certified dog trainer. Run from any that do boarding for basic training (this doesn't apply to hunting training).

My company offers 10 weeks of leave at 100% pay after birth of a child to all full-time associates.
Also, the company gives 6 weeks paid leave at 100% pay for non-birthing partners, or associates who become adoptive parents, foster parents or legal guardians.
Birthing mothers can get up to 16 weeks paid leave through a combo of those two policies.

The PA State Supreme Court said that a lower court must hear a challenge to the constitutionality of a decades-old state law that limits the use of Medicaid dollars to cover the cost of abortions, a major victory for Planned Parenthood and the abortion clinic operators who sued.
The decision also elicited hope that the state Supreme Court may one day find a right to abortion in Pennsylvania's constitution after the U.S. Supreme Court ended nearly a half-century of federal abortion protections by overturning Roe v. Wade.
Also: urgently needing to organize the garage, change air filters, or some other chore that no one will notice whenever we are trying to prep the house for guests. Please clean the bathroom, man. No one is going to care if your wrenches are organized.
OMG. H promised to clean the living room, dining room and kitchen while I did all the other prep for Thanksgiving. I'm waiting to get into the kitchen to cook, and what is he cleaning? THE TOP OF THE REFRIGERATOR.
My most used sizes of silicone bowl covers recently died on me (i.e. I went to put them on something and they snapped) - I've had them since 2019, so not super mad about that. They served their time I think? But I do need to replace them. Any specific brands people like? I think the last ones I got I just puchased whatever popped up on amazon, and I'd love to avoid amazon this time around. And I don't need a multi-size set - I just want to replace the three that got the most use. (i.e. the size of my one mixing bowel that doesn't have a lid, the size of a standard can, and the size of our small plates we use to cover a plate of leftovers when somebody only eats one bite and isn't hungry anymore)
Thrive Market has a set for $9.99 with good reviews, but it's a multi-size set.

It's been a while since the last one (Oct. 2022, I think).
I want to start making whole wheat sandwich bread at home. But I'm still looking for something reusable to store it in. I was reading past eco-friendly posts, and the beeswax wraps got mixed reviews. Suggestions?
Still loving Stashers re-usable sandwich bags (in place of ziploc), stretchy silicone bowl covers, and wool dryer balls. We've been using cloth napkins instead of paper towels for a while.
Since last post, have started composting, using laundry sheets, become MUCH better about using my reuseable shopping bags every single weekend, HiBar shampoo and conditioner bars, and switched the family back to bar soap instead of bottled.
Every time I see a travel or food show in Venice, the local people are complaining about the hordes of tourists that come off the cruise ships. Same in Norway. I really don't think it can be a sustainable way to travel, even when they are using climate-friendly materials. The use of LNG and sending lots of unburned methane into the atmosphere is very concerning. That is way more polluting than cows and yet we demonize the eating of beef but not the building of these enormous cruise ships?
Who would even be the regulating body for how big you can build a ship?
Five players from Canada's 2018 world junior team have taken a leave of absence from their current clubs in recent days amid a report that five members of that team have been asked to surrender to police to face sexual assault charges.
Michael McLeod and Cal Foote of the New Jersey Devils, Carter Hart of the Philadelphia Flyers, Dillon Dube of the Calgary Flames and former NHL player Alex Formenton, who is now playing in Europe, all have been granted indefinite leave, with the absences announced in the past four days.
...
Police in London, Ontario, launched an investigation in 2022 after word emerged that Hockey Canada had settled a lawsuit with a woman who said she was sexually assaulted by eight members of that team at a gala. The Globe & Mail reported Wednesday that five players from that team were asked to surrender to police, in the city halfway between Toronto and Detroit, to face charges of sexual assault.
Delays are rare in my district - its generally all or nothing. What weirds me out is seeing people here talk about converting to virtual days. What a bummer! Snow days as a kid (and for my kids now) were magical!
Our district still gives the kids up to 2 "real" snow days -- if we need to close more than twice for weather, they will do virtual days to prevent extending the school year.

In our case, doors to the school open 2 hours later (10 a.m. vs 8 a.m.) and there's no before-school care. I don't know how the actual school day is structured once they get there.
Our district doesn't use buses at all, so the kids either walk (like mine) or parents drop off.
So you’d trade in the old car and apply the extra to a newer car (after paying off the loan)? People do this all the time.
Yeah, now I realize what a dumb question it is! I don't know why, but when I first thought of it, it seemed like the dealership would be losing money .... I don't know why I thought that.

I have a 2017 Nissan Rogue -- bought it used in 2020. I still owe on the loan (through my credit union), but the car is worth more (per KBB) than the amount left to pay on the loan.
Using the lowest end of the KBB range, plus the difference on the remainder of the loan, I could theoretically buy a newer (but still used) car and (depending on the particular vehicle) either eliminate or more than halve my monthly loan payment.
Will a dealership actually do this? (This car was the first I ever bought on my own, I bought my previous two cars from my parents)
We had to sit on that soaking wet field for graduation and my mom was so mad that I wore sneakers. Sorry ma, I didn't want to slip and fall on my face getting my "diploma."
We had an overcast, slightly damp graduation. We had a guy from Ireland that no one had heard of as our speaker. He said back in Ireland, this was they called "a gorgeous day."
