About 7pm on a summer night, going for a walk and I can smell bbq mixed with lilacs and hear sprinklers. It is so perfectly summer that I have closed my eyes to take it in before.
Seeing FI at the airport.
Crossing race finish lines.
Sitting on the veranda at my parents cottage while it rains.
Playing softball in the summer.
Hanging out with my 2 bffs, which doesn't happen often because we're all in different cities.
Friday evenings driving to my parents cottage in the summer. After a run, showered in comfy clothes, getting an iced coffee and driving up along singing along to all the songs.
Being on my dad's boat listening to the same tape we've been listening to since we got it 16 years ago.
I seem to be the go to tech support person at work.
I haaaaate trying to talk people through their computers issues. I just stand there saying "ok click that, no not that. The other, no go back. Ok yes that drop down. You have you double click. No, double click. Ok no don't click that one, ok you have to go back now, and click the other one".
Ughhhhhh just get the fuck out of my way and let me use your damn computer to do it.
I think one of her weirdest arguments was in her Today interview when she said that she had adopted her black brother, so it wouldn't make sense for her to be white. What? Just... what?
That's when she got right into eating a dick territory for me.
White people can't parent black children? Fuck off.
I think that there's a difference between being a saviour and an ally. As an ally, she absolutely could have been just as influential had she been "white".
right. but an ally is a white member of the naacp not the president.
And sometimes you have to know when to step back and let others take the lead. If the best she could have done as a white woman was to be an influential member of the NAACP, then roll with it and collaborate with the other members to make a difference.
She co-opted the struggles of an entire race to satisfy her ambition.

Ick! And to bring her 'sons' into it. The oldest was originally her adopted brother, but moved in with Rachel's family & she now claims him as a son. (Right?) During her interview, she basically used him as the reason, something along the lines of, "For him to be able to view me as his mother, he needed to see me as black, since he's black." What?! And then I was thinking Matt might call her out in referring to her adopted brother as her son, but then the camera flashed to the two boys!! Her 'sons' were there!! At the nationally televised interview, as if they haven't received enough exposure. Ugh, this makes me even angrier at this woman
My irrational comment where I said I would be ripshit pissed if a white woman claiming to be black decided to take part in the stereotype that has historically existed concerning "black savage men" and white women? That one?
Please go have several seats, ain't nobody impressed with you. Bye.
I think you need to look at the picture again. GO SAT DOWN! Impressive argument.
Why don't you explain to us what you think about the picture?
Does she need to know her personally to know that a white woman should not be dressing in what appears to be tribal African attire?
Or to know that she should not be appropriating a culture that has been historically disadvantaged in order to further her own personal and professional ambitions?
I am WTFing YOU and your "set the world on fire rage". I mean, if you know her personally then I stand corrected.
