If we mean colors in the ROYGBIV sense, I object no matter what room said interior door is in. If we mean color like ecru vs. white or black vs. white, I'm ok.
I've wondered that too. Mostly because I hear people talking about dark doors, but I've wondered about the trim (since you wouldn't want black trim.. well, I wouldn't). But the pics I've seen with black doors & white trim don't look bad! I think it just depends on the house.

It's the upstairs of my house: Off white on bedroom side (closet doors & room windows are off white already) and dark gray on hallway side (all downstairs doors & windows will be dark gray).

Ok, this is hard to get a pic of, but here's the hallway. Ceiling is being fixed and painted white. Walls will get 2 more coats of rice paddy.
Office door on left, window will go dark in center & door to be painted at right. (Ridiculous peeled paint courtesy of my almost-murdered husband 5 years ago).
I know the dark isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I love it and it adds to a richer feeling in our house.
Ignore white baby gate, but stair railing is dark.
It's totally fine to do. In my hallway all the trim is white, the doors are navy blue. On the room side all the doors are white, except for the bathroom which is navy on both side.
