How did you decide on your son's name? Just curious. I think it's very unique & I like it.

Well - actually - there's a local band in Tampa and the guitarist is named Kannon. I remember we were had just started dating and were like if we ever have a son we would name him Cannon... spelled the easiest way for other people.

That idea actually stuck. He wouldn't want to talk about any other names when I was pregnant! I got to pick the middle name so I suppose it was fair. Cannon was not my favorite to begin with but now that the lil guy is here I can't imagine him being any other name. I've seen some Canaan's and heard of a friend of a friend with a Cannon too. Maybe it's catching on?

i think there is a girl on ML naming her baby Cannon or Kannon. it's a thing now!

I know a Canaan, but he's like 12 or 13. I also know someone whose son's middle name is Cannon and I think that's what they call him most of the time. It must be a thing!

When browsing the social security names list, I saw it was somewhere in the 500s for 2011 and rising in popularity. I think there are some celebrities with baby Cannons too, so I'd say it's definitely a thing!

Next time (not saying there is definitely going to be a next time) I have a baby I'm not telling anyone the name ever because people are so judgy about names. When the baby is 18 he/she can decide if the name is going to go public.

And for the record I like Cannon. I like everybody's baby's names as long as the parents like them. Except the ones that are named after cognac. I see too much of that ghetto crap where I work. So I'm judgy too. And not sharing .

I had a student named Cannon last school year -- he was 17 yrs old. And now in my baby class I go to on Monday's there is a little boy named Cannon. I like the name, I actually suggested it to my BFF who is pregnant with her second boy now.
