My work secret santa gifted me a $10 iTunes card today. do you have any music or apps suggestions?
(I have been DL torrents, so I haven't really thought about other songs I like...I kind of get them on demand.)
I am 99.9% sure Luis bought me a Kindle ereader for Xmas (just the reader, I didn't want the tablet because I will getting a phone (a fancy Android smartphone) for the first time in 18 months when the tax money comes in and I have an iPod touch.
Do you have any books you recommend reading? I like classic literature, some modern non-fiction, David Sedaris, I used to love Chuck Palanihuk but his last two books were kind of predictable. I know one book I will get/borrow is American Gods by Neil Gaiman, so if you have anything like that that you recommend, I'd be so grateful!
ETA: That's weird. I wrote Kindle and now there is a Kindle fire ad upstairs and downstairs on the screen. I've been shopping on Amazon, but it is weird that it is exactly a Kindle.
I'm not one to suggest music, as my tastes tend to run at the same level as a 15 year old. Except for my undying love of Harry Connick Jr.
As books go, make sure you check out what they have for free. A lot of classics are available for free on Kindle (or Nook, which is what I have). Also, are you a member of Goodreads? Its a great site where you score books you've already read, and it then gives you suggestions of things you'll like. Plus you can join groups, see what friends are reading, have a yearly goal, etc. The book I would most suggest at this moment is The Book Thief by Markus Zaszuk. It was phenomenal, best fiction book I've read in a long, long time.

I am on Goodreads. It was about 20 minutes after I posted this that realized, "Duh!" I have a list of a ton of books that I want to read on there. Including Bossy Pants and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Thanks for the recommendation for The Book Thief. I will add it!
Bossy Pants is so awesome. I read that at the beginning of the year and I laughed so much. I love Tina Fey. I'm also wanting to read Mindy Kaling's book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?
I have Miss Peregrine's on my to-read list as well.

I don't have any suggestions at the moment, but I thought I'd pass a little piece of advice I learned the hard way Don't put any pressure on the screen of a regular reader only type of Kindle. I'd had mine for a few years and I thought it was pretty durable, it's been dropped a ton of times and I'd always just thrown it in my purse (no cover or anything) and had no problems. One night I was reading in bed, and Beckett called for me. When I came back to bed, it was half buried under the covers and my elbow ever so slightly pushed down on it. Screen completely screwed up. Its permently stuck on one page and it looks like a portion of the page was ripped away. And it never shuts off or goes to a screen saver. I googled it, thinking it might be fixable. It's not. And apparently, it's a very common problem, as people often read in bed, fall asleep and roll over it. I was so bummed, and now I've been having to read on my iPad, which I don't like any where near as much for reading. Anyways, if I'd known how sensitive the screen was, I would've been so much more careful. Just wanted to pass that on, so such sadness doesn't happen to anyone else.

Thank you. My kids love to "type" (we say tecla) on anything I am using. I have stopped using my laptop when my kids are awake and at home. I know I will be back to reading in bed soon.

The same thing happened to me after I wrote my post below. Now I'm seeing all sorts of advertisements for Keurig and K cups.
A couple of books that are on my To-Read list for when I start reading fiction again (after language training is over) are Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and The Ninth Wife by Amy Stolls.
