My mom graduated w her BS "on time." My dad dropped out after one year, married my mom, and went back to school for his BFA after my sister was born. My mom got her MS when I was 7. My dad graduated w his MFA in 2010.

No, both my parents have only their elementary school. They both stopped school in 7th grade, my mom because she hated it, my dad because his dad didn't want him to go and got him a job. My dad then started going to school at night, and when his dad found out, he got him a second job. My grandpa was an ass, and times were tough in Greece in the 50s.
Dad is a dissertation away from his ph.d., but decided he'd rather watch me grow up than write a paper. He also never wanted to go into private practice, so it wasn't necessary.
