Wen or otherwise. I need opinions on whether it's worth doing or not. I have an insane amount of slightly wavy, fine hair, that necessitates the need for daily washing, or I get pancake head. It's just a wee bit dry, so I'm trying to cut down on the washing.
Have you thought about using dry shampoo to reduce the amount of hair washing therefore less dryness? Since I started using the dry shampoo I can go from washing my hair every 2 days to every 3. Day 1- hair down, day 2- hair down and i use the dry shampoo, day 3- hair up in a ponytail while using the dry shampoo, day 4- wash.

if you are washing just to reactivate your curl you might want to try "pineappling" your hair at night. this just means putting a ponytail on the very top of your head. it helps preserve curl and keeps the top from getting flattened out. this really helps me get 2nd and 3rd day hair
AHhh I see. My daughters are biracial and after all the curly hair talk today I've been googling away better ways to do their hair. They have coil curls. Crazyness.

my grandaughter is biracial, I have a concoction that moisturizes her curls and springs them back to life after a nap/bedtime. water, conditioner & honey spritz on and comb thru

What are the ratios of each? Interesting. I'm always looking for ways to tame her hair, as its out of control. Especially after sleeping. I've learned today I shouldn't be shampooing as much as I do. I ordered samples of mixed chicks kids line. So we'll see what I can figure out. Her hair is beautiful when it is first out of the bath and dried.
I have been doing conditioner only on my 4 yo DD for 2+ years and it is fine. It never feels oily or dirty and like all 4 yos she can get pretty dirty in a day.
I had to stop using Hair One. I have limp fine hair, and not lot's of it. And it just weighed it all down and made me look like a greaser times a million no matter how long i rinsed for.
I also have scalp issues related to psoriasis and Hair One made it worse, which I didn't think would be the case. My hair just sucks so I duobt it's the shampoo/conditioner.
It may be partially your hair but I picked that one up a few weeks and my hair looks awful. That particular one also burns my face.

I just kind of mix it, maybe 60% water?
The honey is what is making me nervous. How much honey? It sounds like a sticky problem...
I do it and it's been amazing for my hair. My hair is naturally wavy and naturally a little dry. Since doing this my hair is shiny, frizz-free, and bouncy without product. Before doing this (co-washing), I would have to shampoo my hair every single day because my scalp would get too oily, but then the ends were like straw.
I just use V05 or Suave silicone free conditioners. Just apply it very generously to your hair including your scalp, let it sit, then lather it and rinse.
To lather it, just stick your head under the water just for a second then massage it like shampoo and you'll notice the little bubbles. Then very thoroughly rinse. This will clean your hair, I promise. You might have to use a regular shampoo occasionally to clarify, but silicone free conditioners really can clean!
Sorry for the novel, but since seeing what co-washing has done for my hair (and wallet) I feel I need to spread the word.

I use those same products and the price makes it even more of an advantage. back when I used shampoo & silicone filled conditioners, I had so much hair breakage too. now what I lose in 2 weeks what I use to lose on a daily basis
I had always thought it was normal to shed constantly until I started co-washing. No wonder my hair was so thin.
It's nice that they're so cheap because you can try so many different kinds and "flavors". If one doesn't work, you can just use it for shaving cream or if not, you're only out about $1.
VW now you are making think I need to go buy the V05 stuff.. arg!!
Seriously, give it a go!
I'll be honest, I did have a little bit of frizz for the first 2 weeks of trying it, but it's been getting better and better ever since. I've personally been in love with V05 Kiwi Lime Squeeze. It makes my hair the shiniest and it smells amaaaazing.
Many people on this site are quite a bit more extreme than I am (I still dye my hair and style with heat, and my hair's not to my ankles), but their hair is in great condition so they must know their stuff.

This is a good site for a comprehensive list of cone-free conditioners. The most popular is Alberto VO5 Strawberries and Cream and Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut, which is what I use to conditioner-wash (co-wash).
