Tman was born 9 months and 4 days after our wedding day, so he was definitely a honeymoon baby. That being said, James and I were still newlyweds all through my pregnancy. We were still rather adventurous.
We decided that we would go camping the weekend of Memorial Day. I was 32 weeks pregnant. I gained a lot of weight while pregnant, so by this time, I was already pretty big.
James said he had a 2 person tent that we could use. We packed everything up and headed up to Baker Lake. He sets up the tent - it's a pup tent. It was SO SMALL. It was rainy and cold on Saturday, but we were hoping for better the next day. We went to bed.
I woke up around midnight totally soaked and with James snoring in my face - loud. I tried to wake him up, but he was sleeping too sound. When I tried to roll away from him, water poured on my face. The tent was leaking, it was pouring outside. My belly was so big and the tent was so small, the only way out was to crawl on my hands and knees. I open the flap (not even a zipper), and crawl out into a giant puddle right outside that I couldn't see in the dark. Now I'm crying.
I make my way to the car and am just sobbing. I start the car up and crank the heat. One good thing about the tent being so small was that our stuff wouldn't fit in there, so all our clothes were in the car. I changed into dry clothes and then just tried to relax and maybe sleep.
A while later, there was a knock on the window of the car. It was pitch black, and I couldn't see anything, so I wasn't going to unlock the door. Banging, LET ME IN, banging. It was James, but I couldn't see him and I freaked out. He was standing in the pouring rain. He started getting mad, but I yelled out, "I can't see you. I don't know who you are." He gets super close to the window so I can see him and says, "It's me - YOUR HUSBAND"! It was crazy.
He got in and we stayed the rest of the night in the car, obviously.
I had to go #1 like a hundred times, and I would just open the car door, stand right outside of it (with the door still open) and squat right there next to the car.
We hung out around camp until maybe 2pm and then packed up even though we were supposed to stay for another day.
