this is random, but I want my sister to get a new swimsuit. she still wears boyshort ones with a top like a sports bra and it's just an ugly pattern. at least last I checked that was it. granted, we live in Seattle, so the opportunity to wear it isn't high, but still, I think it's time she got a more grown-up one, lol.
I'm asking your opinion because I don't know what style to recommend. I know for myself, halter is the go-to, but we have very different body shapes. Not much in the way of boobs, but definitely hips and a butt and skinny skinny everywhere else. What kind of suit would be the most flattering? She hasn't been much of a girly girl in the past, but I think is becoming a little more so and knows it's time for a change.
with hips and a butt, having highesh cut buttoms is key. I would do a simple minimal bottom (not boyshorts!), and then a top with ruffles, detailing, or a print. that will help balance out her top and bottom half.

For the top, I would recommend an underwire/bra style that will enhance what she has. Something like this from Jcrew is cute:
This from Gap is cute, ruffles on the top as suggested by eip.
that suit is adorable! and I think that's a good suggestion about something with underwire. the ruffle one is also cute. now to tell her my plans, mwahaha

I'm with emilyinpink. I have that exact body shape so I do a string bikini on the bottom (so I can adjust the ties, the non string ones never fit my hips) and ruffles on top to help give the appearance of boobs.
