Well it's happened. One of the teeth that she chipped back in June has died. I thought it started to look a bit darker, which was what the dentist told me to watch for, so I took her in today and they confirmed it. The tooth has to be pulled. It's her front upper right tooth. I'm so sad. 1) All of the guilt from the original accident came rushing back and 2) She's going to be toothless until she's like 6 years old and the adult one grows in!! Every childhood photo is going to be of her missing a tooth. I'm going to look like a white trash parent. I'm debating whether I should try to get some holiday pictures taken this weekend (her tooth is being pulled next week) or if I'm making too big of deal about this. Oh, and we're going to sedate her for this. As if the stitches weren't bad enough.
I'm right there with you on experiencing the guilt and trauma so i'm not minimizing that at all, but I bet she's going to look super cute and you'll get used to her new "look" in no time.
Oh, how sad! Sorry you and she have to go through this. You'll probably get used to it in no time, but yeah, if it were me I'd probably snap some pictures before the appointment.
I think I must have missed the original post, so not to rehash (feel free to ignore the question), but what happened?

At the end of June she and I were at a park and she was playing on the playscape. She went to sort of step off the play structure and instead fell forward, slamming her face into a metal bar and then falling on the ground. The ground was only like 6 inches away so that wasn't the bad part, it was the metal bar.
She chipped 2 (or 3?) teeth and pushed her right upper teeth up and back. Plus she needed to get stitches because she tore the inside of her lip open.
I knew the moment it happened that it was bad. She was such a trooper though and held ice and a wipe on the injury the whole ride to the ER, demanding I switch out her wipe each time it got 'dirty' (covered in blood). She got patched up and was fine. We went to the dentist the next week and because the teeth weren't lose (just pushed back and up) there wasn't anything to do but watch to see if they died. And now that time has come.
Crap! I am so sorry. I would absolutely take pictures. If you don't love her new look perhaps they can make you "flippers" or something similar to use for special events / pictures etc. ((Hugs))
I'm sorry. C actually knocked out her top four when she was 3 or 4, and I think her pics are adorable, but she did end up needing speech therapy to pronounce "th". With only one tooth missing, I doubt that will be a concern.
I second Duchess' idea of some sort of bridge for pics and special occasions if you want it. And go ahead and take pics now - more pics are always good!
