I'm stuck. I started our outdoor decorations, and then changed my mind halfway through. This is what we have so far (and like, and plan to leave up). It's what you see plus six of the little bushes to the left have white lights on them.
What should I do with the garage doors? Upstairs windows? Here it is larger.
I had gotten snowflake Christmas lights to use around the garage doors, but then ended up going more traditional on the front door and railings, so I don't think that will look good. Would a greenery+lights garland across the crown molding-type things on top of the garage doors look good or odd? I'm also considering making small versions of the front door wreath (which I DIYed) for the upstairs windows-- overkill?
TIA for any and all thoughts! I'm hoping to finish it up this weekend (the kids are helping me and they ran out of steam last weekend).
small wreaths on the upstairs windows doesn't like like overkill at all. You'll need some lights up there though I think. window candles. Or lights in the wreath? something to balance the lights on the lower left.
I'm torn on the garage doors. Greenery plus lights sounds pretty - but I'm kinda fundamentally opposed to highlighting garage doors unless they are fancy doors and worth highlighting. Most people do not have this hangup though, so I think that adds up to a thumbs up on the greenery.
I think wreaths on the garage doors and garlands over head would be nice. I'm with wawa on highlighting garage doors, but in this case I think the outdoor display would look unbalanced if you left the garage out. If you really want to go all out, I would hang a wreath over the vent on the right side of your house. That would look pretty
If you put wreaths in your upper windows can you also put a spotlight (or lights) in your yard to shine on them. We have some in our neighborhood that have done this and they look really pretty.
I would put wreaths in each of the upstairs windows, candles in all of the windows and a wreath hanging over the garage doors, but in between them, kwim? One with lights would be awesome!
You have kids? You NEED an inflatable...haha. Yea, I said never, but we put a smaller one up and my guys are just absolutely nuts over it. Most of our house is decorated very traditional with the candles, wreaths, lights in one bush. Then we have the inflatable. I love it, too

LOL! I actually got a pair of 3.5-ft baby snowmen (pic below) that I was planning to put out there because I think the kids would enjoy them. But once the first part was up and they loved that so much, I figured I might be able to get away without putting them out front this year. Perhaps they'll live in the back yard...
