Manduka and Jade are the ones that always get the best reviews. All the instructors I've ever had have sworn by Manduka (though I have a Jade because it was $40 cheaper than any of the Mandukas).
I have an AeroMat, from TJMaxx or Amazon, I think. It's nice and thick, has no smell (even if it did, let it air out for awhile), and was far less than a Manduka.
I love my Manduka! I've had it for 3 years and it looks brand new still. My husband has the black mat and I have the pro lite. I just ordered it off of Manduka .com but I've seen them at dicks, lululemon, and local yoga studios.

I love my Jade mat. Purchased at my local studio for about $70. Seems a bit expensive, but compared to others I have bought, it was worth it. It is rubber and my hands never slip or slide as compared to my cheaper Gaiam mats.
