DH is renovating our finished basement, and we'll be putting the guest room down there (don't have guests often). I'm oddly drawn to a gold and mint green combo, similar to this:
Good? Bad?
I like the idea of white bedding but with a dog, cat, and baby....no. Is gold bedding too 80s?
Eta: I would add a bit of white in other areas that won't attract animal hair. I love gold, but too much isn't good. I might go for white and mint with accents of gold.
I like the color combo. Would you actually let your pets and LO into that room often?
I also wouldn't go for a ton of gold. It could get too cheap looking quickly.
This is my biggest concern!
My animals and LO would probably not be in this room often, you're right. I think I am just used to that way of thinking!
Thanks for the feedback!
I think pp are spot on with how to handle the gold with just some accents.
Assuming you can shut the door and make it a no pet and no kid room, I think you should do white bedding. It would look so good with a nice white bedspread/coverlet/whatever with some trim added like in your inspiration and some cute patterned pillows.
What would you all think about adding grey into this mix. So it would be mint green, gold, white, and grey.
I ask b/c we have this Ikea dresser that I would love to use in there.
Mint green: walls Gold: SMALL touches (trim on lampshades, thin gold frames on walls for art, trim on throw pillows, etc.) White: trim/moulding, large mats for framed art, bedding. Grey: rug, Ikea dresser?
Yay or nay? I'm trying to use what we have and well, we have a lot of grey.
My guest room is sort of those colors. The walls are yellow-er, which I actually plan to change in the new year. We have this bedding (now discontinued from Macy's):
Once I tweak the wall color, I think it's going to be good. I have always liked the bedding.

That's funny, that picture looks quite a bit like my dining room and living room scheme (the wallpaper and colors). Ignore the curtains in the shot, I didn't end up using those. But you can see how taupe mixes pretty well with those colors. Sorry for the poor lighting in the shot.
