I still don't understand why people even go to stores anymore. I am sure amazon or some other place has plenty of white lights. Or you can even reserve that stuff online at like home depot or lowes and then pick it up in store.

I noticed this in several different stores the last couple weekends- I am just trying to replace 1 string of white icicle lights and they are not to be had.
I was in Target last Tuesday and they said they won't be getting any more. There wasn't a lot left already. They said the last holiday push was the week before and that's it.

I'm so sorry. that happened to me a couple of years ago, so last year, I bought a bunch as soon as they put them on the shelves.
I have a similar startegy at Trader Joe's. I buy all my holiday non-perishables shortly after they arrive in store so as to avoid the frustration of them being out of stock when I need it.
Worse case scenario - a half lit tree makes for a great story?
That happened to us last year. DH waited too long to get outside lights and ended up with random sets that were left. It looked comical, total Charlie Brown Christmas house. He still hasn't put the lights up this year, but he did already buy more.
what is happening is that the stores carry so many LED lights now- but they look blue and people do not like to mix them with regular white lights- so the regluar ones sell out FAST.
Last year this happened to us- we wanted more for outside but they were gone once it was Dec - so this year I stocked up on them from walmart in OCTOBER when they first put them out.
I hate the LED ones... though, might have to change over to them one of these years if our white lights stop working and it's too hard to find new ones.
stores are getting smart and not overstocking anything for holidays- they realize everyone just waits until after xmas to buy for the next year, etc..

Try Kmart. That's what a guy at Home Depot suggested to me yesterday. He said HD, Target, Walmart, etc. were all sold out, but that no one remembered to check Kmart!!
We went out this weekend looking for garland and some lights and decorations for outside. Most of the stores we went to were almost empty. It looked like it was the week after Christmas instead.
