One of the guys I work for just came up to me and asked if my notary seal and passport was up to date. I'm like yeaaaaaaaa......
He then tells me that he has a huge deal closing next week and that his Australian clients are either going to have to fly here to sign docs in front of a US notary, or he needs to fly a notary to Australia. Asks if I'd be willing to be flown to Oz to notarize if he also paid me. Tells me to keep an eye on my email over the weekend.
Uh, yea. I would. Probably won't happen but......holy crap.
A couple years ago, we had a conference in Singapore. One of my friends went literally for a day and a half. I think she spent more time flying than she actually did in Singapore, and still said it was awesome to do.

If I got to go there, visit an awesome beach, eat some good food, and walk around for the day, it would be worth it!
Crap. I'm looking at the notary laws and I'm not totally sure that I would even be able to notarize in a foreign country. Boooooo.
I iwas going to say this, but I didn't want to burst your bubble When our clients live overseas, they just have to sign their docs at the US Consulate - they are stamped with a nifty seal and a brad is placed on the pages to indicate that it was signed out of country. Voila - legal and recordable doc.
I live in Oz (came from Europe, though). I've looked at flights home to the US and to the Midwest it's like 24 hours of total travel.
What magic carpet gets you across the pacific in 9 hours? Or does midwest mean midwestern orange county?
east coast to west coast = six hours, west coast to east coast AU 14 hours, voila, 40 hours of flying.
Ah, your math sucks. 14 + 6 is 20 hrs, so Wise Rita was over estimating your crappy calculations....No way in hell does it take 40 hrs to get from Syd to NY FFS
Can we pretty much declare that "knittable" is she of Nest infamy, Knitty? Always with inflammatory nonsense ready to be spewed.
Midwest as in Minneapolis. Even with one completely unnecessary extra flight, Brisbane to Minneapolis is:
Brisbane to LA: 13 hours LA to Dallas: 3 hours Dallas to Minneapolis: 2 hr, 15 min
One of those domestic flights are totally nonsensical (but based on partner airlines, apparently necessary). Even with that it's under half of 40 hours.
