I saw one. Dh wanted me to check to make sure that I could have kids and all that jazz. I told him they cant decide that right off the bat but I would go in to talk to them about it. I went October 10 and talked to them about it.
I thought when you first started posting you originally said you *just* decided to TTC and had not seen a doctor because you had just stopped BC?

OK.....
Last Week of September - the sugar pills that are in the last week of the birth control packs October 1 - Period October 10 - Doc Appointment - Didnt refill prescription - Should have started taking a new pack of BC.
You need to call member services, not the appointment line, the second they open in the morning. They release a limited number of new doctor spots first thing in the morning. I wanted a female doctor, and it took several days of calling at exactly 8am to get an open spot that I wanted. You can also sign up under a certified nurse midwife, and they are usually easier to get. You can always change again at any time.
That said, I'd be perfectly fine going through email. Kaiser is really into the email thing and I've gotten plenty of medical advice via email, even from doctors I've never met. I've never had my emails ignored though, ever. If mine is out, a coworker will respond to all emails, or my doc sometimes will respond while out. I would just email - "Hey Doc, I'm 70 days off BCP with no period and TTC. I'd like some meds to get it going." i'd bet that my doc would have the order in within 24 hours.

I just wanted to add that I too love Kaiser...but I know everyone is different. I've just never experienced what the OP is experiencing. Sounds like, the worst branch ever if things are that difficult.

I just want to add that it is so foreign to me that you ladies have to contact your insurance company to get to your doctor, or make an appointment, or change docs.... I feel like you must all live in another country! lol
What do you do when you're kid is sick with an ear infection or something, and needs to see a doctor today?

It's much easier than it sounds. I just call the appointment line and they get me a same-day appointment. It's not likely to be with my own doctor, because he's probably booked for the day, but there would be plenty of other doctors available for appointments. I like that it is handled on one call line because I have at least 3 offices that are easy to get to and I could book whichever location has the best appointment time.

yes Kaiser is good when you need an appointment now. They are many branches that are around that are open 24 hours. if you want to get to YOUR doctor they are normally booked for a couple of days. My last appointment I made in August and could not get in until October.

This is exactly what I said. The office emailed me back i am sure she will email me back tomorrow. I get more medical advice over email than I do calling the appointment line.

You don't contact your insurance...exactly. I call the local branch I go to, ask to put a call to my doc, and they do. They get back to me in 24 hrs or less. Simple. I email my docs too, and they respond within 36 hrs usually.
To change docs, it's just easiest to bypass a bit of a wait and go straight to Member Services, which basically is like customer service, and they just change your records like that. And if you have questions like, oh I forget how much my co-pay is, they can look it up easily.
It is not as difficult as it is being made to seem!
