Soooo.... anyone have chickens?

Our newest additions to the family are feathered! Haven't seen a single post about them and not sure which board to look on. ;D

13andcounting just added 6 to her family. I hope she'll chime in, but I think she just started a new job. We're all waiting to hear what her and her H names them

I would love to get chickens and a goat, but our township wants us to have 5 acres and we only have a third I fell in love with a Nubian today at a local farm...

We are very lucky that the local laws are so lenient for us. They only need to be 100 feet from our neighbors house.

We have 8 hens total, each is a different breed. We hope the older hens will start laying any day now.

Our neighbor/landlord has them, but their coop is literally 20 feet from our bedroom window. (We rent a granny cottage out in the sticks).

They're nice to have around, although I think ours have stopped producing, so it might be time for some new chicks.

Yay! I'm thinking of getting a few when we move, I haven't quite figured out all the details yet tho.

We have turkeys, but a ton of them because FI is a commercial farm manager, so I have like 20,000... does that count? lol
Growing up we always had chickens, each of us kids had our own and we took turns collecting eggs I miss that, when we have kids I want to do that again! (We won't be living on the farm anymore then, we'll be living offsite but still in the country)

I do agree with this. But they are very entertaining to watch.
